The Media Education department was established in 1996 and focuses on exploring use of video within education – as a motivating factor for young people and as a help to foster media competence. KUL has been involved in a number of EU projects.

It is a bilingual, multicultural organisation with a diversity management based organisational culture specialised in training of Deaf and hard of hearing people. All trainings are provided in Austrian sign language. All employees are skilled in Austrian sign language; some can also sign in other languages.

The CER-GISTAL is a Research Centre of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona and includes by specialists in Psychology, Pedagogy, Speech Therapists and Linguistics from three universities in Barcelona. GISTAL was founded in 1989, as a research group with research lines on the educational, psychological and linguistic evolution of Deaf students.
